May! We are here!
Happy May Day, Cinco De Mayo, Star Wars day, and any other holidays I may have missed. Writing you this morning from my kitchen table with a hot cup of tea. Prior to moving to Oregon I did a lot of imagining around what things could be like. One of the most central dreams was having access to fresh eggs/a dream of chickens in the yard. I landed in multiple housing adventures including a really unique situation where my housemates and I had an incredible wooden sauna (built day by day from the ground up by a housemate companion’s contractor client, big claps for that man) and a delicious hot tub with colorful lights and jets. It was a magical outcome in many ways, but there were no chickens. My favorite thing to do then was strip naked and hop in with an edible, scanning the sky for cloud formations and counting the tallest of fir trees. Fast forward a handful of years. I live in my hometown of Chicago, again, with more appreciation than ever. My kitchen overlooks a house with an unbelievable yard. These folks aren’t playing- backyard habitat certification, official butterfly sanctuary, pollinator pathway, certified native plant yard. The most amazing part? There are chickens. I had a full circle moment last summer on the day of our street’s block party after being sent home with a belly full of food and, you guessed it, fresh eggs from the neighbors. My dream came true, just not in the way I had expected years prior. Full circle.
April PNW trip update: it was perfect. I have thee best, most loyal lovers in both Seattle and Portland. Shout out to a client from the Bay who has flown to Seattle twice now to meet together (a very good boy). There was no one new on my dance card this particular visit, and while I love new connections and welcome them in, to be transparent this was just fine with me (cue No New Friends). I love knowing who I’m about to see, looking forward to our time, your individual pleasures, and knowing who likes what kind of fun together. It’s actually dreamy. This couldn’t have been a better visit. I will be back for mushroom hunting season later this year (!!!) unless you’d like to see me sooner- a long date is all it takes to scoop me up. PNW, you are beautiful, you are a dream come true.
New York, how are we? I need to get in you ASAP. I am thinking about the first few days of June (1-4). Let’s put a pin in that. Email me— just know you are next on the list, no dates in stone but I will find my way to you shortly.
This fashionably late May newsletter has been brought to you by me … knee-deep in the process of Marie Kondo-ing my life. Step one: I colored my hair dark and chopped it to my chin (which you can see if you are part of my OF world, will soon share on other platforms). Very Amelie, very cute moment for summer. Step two: I’ve slowly filled 3 giant donation bags of clothes that don’t feel like me anymore and have been ravenously digging through secondhand shops for inspiration. It leaves me with little in the interim to wear but this is also exciting and expansive; my wardrobe can look like anything, it leaves me without limits! I’m having so much fun putting new looks together.
It’s come to my attention that I haven’t taken pro photos of any kind in well over a year. If I was someone who generally appeared the same throughout her life this wouldn’t be too big a deal, but I’m a chameleon, baby. There are multiple people I’d like to work with, one located in Atlanta and another in Seattle. Something I’d love to ask for is a sponsorship for a shoot. We can discuss logistics together if you’re interested in hopping on this. I’d like to share my most updated self with the world in 2026, and I’d love to give you a sneak peek of everything first! Excited even writing this out to you.
